Two Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»police officers are now in stable condition after being stabbed this morning, July 5.
The pair were responding to a 911 call around 10 a.m. about a two-year-old child being forcibly confined in a residence near the intersection of Keefer Street and Gore Avenue, according to a press release from the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Police Department (VPD).
"When they entered the suite, a struggle ensued with the suspect and two officers were stabbed," state the VPD. "During the altercation, officers deployed a taser on the 59-year-old suspect."
They describe the stabbings as "serious."
All three were taken to hospital. The officers are in stable condition; the police don't comment in the release on the suspect's current condition.
The child is safe the VPD adds in an email to Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»is Awesome.
The investigation is continuing and the Independent Investigations Office of B.C. has been alerted to the incident.
