Vancouverties have been stepping outside each night to cheer for health care workers and first responders from their balconies, backyards, and doorsteps. Now, even TransLink joins in on the 7 o'clock kudos.
In order to celebrate everyone on the front lines, TransLink has played an announcement on its Expo, Millennium and Canada Line trains at 7 p.m. sharp. The announcement played for the first time on March 27.
"We want to give thanks to those on the front lines too — including our transit staff!" states the transit authority on its Buzzer Blog.
"That’s why for the next little while, you’ll hear a voice announcement onboard all Expo, Millennium and Canada Line trains at 7 p.m., thanking frontline staff and asking customers to cheer for them."

TransLink has also shared a live rendition of the evening message. And while the company thanks the customer that gave a "wow," they remark, " I think we can do better, so tonight, let’s hear you cheer even louder!"
Fire Chief Darrell Reid shared a video on March 29 to his Twitter account of his neighbours adding a unique twist to the 7 p.m. ritual: the Canadian national anthem.
Reid filmed the video from the balcony of his Mount Pleasant condo, as a chorus of people in the area proudly sang "Oh Canada."
