TransLink states that a bus operataor has informed them that they have tested positive for COVID-19.

TransLink Spokesperson Ben Murphy tells Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» in an email that a bus operator working out of Surrey has informed the transportation agency that they have tested positive for COVID-19.

"Any relevant buses and workspaces that this employee has come into contact with recently have been thoroughly cleaned and disinfected," writes Murphy. "Public Health officials have not confirmed this case with TransLink and have given no indication that there is an elevated risk to the public at this time."

"The employee has our full support and we wish them a speedy recovery," adds Murphy.

On April 1, TransLink stated that two of its employees tested positive for COVID-19. One of the employees works out of the Burnaby Transit Centre, while the other works out of the Port Coquitlam Transit Centre. On April 3, it stated that that its HandyDART contractor, First Transit, had been advised by Public Health officials that a driver working out of Richmond tested positive for COVID-19

The transportation agency adds that British Columbia has very strict privacy laws, and whether to disclose any further details on these cases would be a matter for the Provincial Health Officer.
