Mayor Robertson declares 'The Rock' Day in Vancouver

Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»honours Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson for his...fanny pack?!

Great news for fans of star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson: You can now celebrate the official "The Rock" Day in Vancouver.

The bad news is...it happened yesterday. Specifically, Thursday, October 19.

Mayor Gregor Robertson tweeted the news on Friday, October 20:

As we know, Johnson is a big fan of Vancouver, having where he says he dropped his "blood and sweat" in the city--most recently filming "Skyscraper" here.

But it's not his bodily fluids that the City of Vancouver's official proclamation of "The Rock Day" calls out, but rather his ability make a lot of "green" in our "Greenest City."

The official document also cites Johnson's charitable work through The Rock Foundation, his time in Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»during his football career, and his fanny pack.

into the whys of the timing of this declaration (it does suck that we have to wait until October 19 of next year to justify taking the day off for "The Rock" movie marathon), and unearths that Robertson wanted to keep the big news a secret until Johnson showed up for a meeting scheduled much later in the day.

So while Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»can smell what The Rock is cookin', we can also smell a stunt.

By the way, if you want to get your own proclamation, file a online with the City of Vancouver.
