A dozen temperature records were broken across the province as hot, summer-like weather poured in this week.
Several communities saw record-high temperatures on Friday, April 28, as seen in a from Environment Canada, including Whistler, Victoria, Abbotsford, Squamish, and Hope.
Around Metro Vancouver, Squamish saw the highest temperatures at 27.4 C. The previous record of 24 C was set in 2005. Whistler and Abbotsford, meanwhile, both hit 25.7 C on Friday. Whistler's former record of 22.6 was set in 1989, while Abbotsford's old record of 24.4 C was set in 1957.
On the Island, Victoria also reached a new record at 22 C. The city's old record was set nearly a century ago in 1926 at 21.1 C.
The hottest temperature recorded in B.C. was in Merritt, which saw a new record of 29.4 C, about two degrees hotter than the 27.2 C record set in 1926.
