Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»police dispatched a dozen officers to the Cambie Bridge early Friday morning to prevent a man from chasing people.
Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Police Department (VPD) Sgt. Steve Addison tells V.I.A. the department received a call at 5:27 a.m. that a man was chasing strangers with a long stick on the Cambie Bridge. He was also swinging it at passing vehicles.
Addison says the suspect was "taken into custody within minutes," and police did not have to shut the bridge down.
Before the arrest, a police dog bit the suspect after he fled from the officers who tried to arrest him. He sustained minor injuries and was treated by paramedics following the incident.
"I do not have an update on [the suspect's] injuries," he noted.
The VPD noted in a post on X, formerly Twitter, that "no victims were injured."
