There will be no criminal conviction stemming from a March 2019 soccer parent in Ambleside, following the signing of a peace bond Monday in North Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»provincial court.

Jan Nizaar Ali, 43, was accused of punching a North Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»woman after a dispute erupted when a parent didn’t throw an out-of-bounds ball back into play during the dying minutes of a U21 playoff soccer game.

When police arrived, they found a group of parents crowded around Ali’s SUV and sitting on the hood to prevent him from leaving.

Following an adjournment due to lack of court time on Monday, Ali entered into a peace bond later that day, admitting he caused fear of personal injury. According to the terms of the peace bond, he must demonstrate good behaviour for three months. He will not have a criminal record.
