Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Metro Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»due to powerful winds moving across the B.C. South Coast.
This morning, a strong Pacific Frontal system moving across the B.C. South Coast will give potentially damaging winds, explains the statement.
For Metro Vancouver, Southern Gulf Islands, Sunshine Coast - Gibsons to Earls Cove and communities in the mouth of Howe Sound, including Bowen Island, the south to southeast winds up to 60 km/h will veer sharply to the northwest 40 to 60 km/h with gusts up to 70 this morning.
The winds will abate near noon as the front moves inland.
The special weather statement is in effect for:
- Metro Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»- central including the City of Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Burnaby and New Westminster
- Metro Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»- North Shore including West Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»and North Vancouver
- Metro Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»- southeast including Surrey and Langley
- Metro Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»- southwest including Richmond and Delta
Tonight's forecast calls for cloudy skies and a chilly overnight low of zero degrees.
