Stanley Park is closed and a number of BC Ferries sailings are cancelled due to a powerful windstorm off B.C.'s South Coast.

Earlier today, Environment Canada issued a wind warning, stating that strong winds that may cause damage are expected or occurring.

Over the western sections of Metro Vancouver, as well as the Southern Gulf Islands winds have shifted sharply to northwest 50 to 70 km/h. In addition, wind gusts up to 90 km/h are possible near the water.

As a result of the strong winds, Stanley Park is currently closed to the public. For your safety, avoid large trees in any area as branches may break. You can report any tree or traffic signal issues using VanConnect or by calling 3-1-1.

In addition, the City of 鶹ýӳreports that the Matinee Ghost Train in Stanley Park will be closed to ensure the safety of visitors. However, people with paid reservations may find details on honouring their tickets or getting refunds on Facebook.

BC Ferries has also cancelled a number of sailings on the , , and due to adverse weather conditions.

All customers with reservations on cancelled sailings will be advised by email that their booking is cancelled and where possible, accommodated on a later sailing. Reservations that are cancelled will have their reservation fees fully refunded.
