Last month, the SPCA South Okanagan/Similkameen Branch was flooded with 64 kittens after an owner surrendered them to the branch.
Now, another resident has surrendered a jaw-dropping 111 felines from a single home. As a result, the branch has issued an Emergency Alert, as they will need to raise funds to provide each of the kitties with medical attention and rehabilitation.
Sadly, the branch was already overwhelmed when it received the large influx of felines in September. They are currently in extreme need of help as they are faced with the care of 1620 injured, abused or abandoned cats in care, including the recently surrendered 111.
These cats have also developed a great deal of the coping mechanisms that are typical of hoarded felines. As such, they may be more skittish than other cats, and they will require rehabilitation.
