Sea to Sky Gondola to reopen June 11

New safety measures will be in place as the attraction reopens after its cable cut for the second time on Sept. 14, 2020.

The cable of the gondola was cut for a second time in the early morning hours of Sept. 14. 

It was cut the first time . 

As yet, no one has been arrested for either sabotage.

The gondola's latest reopening statement said that 25 new cabins recently arrived from Switzerland. 

A new cable was delivered from Fatzer in Switzerland earlier this year.

The gondola says it has implemented "extensive updates" to its security system. 

"Including a professional in-house security team; 24-hour surveillance of all infrastructure and refined our detection and response capabilities in partnership with the RCMP. Our security architecture is extraordinary in the lift industry and has evolved after extensive consultation with security experts," the statement reads. 

That statement noted it would not be divulging all the details of the new system. 

When the gondola reopens, customers will ride in gondola cabins with their ‘bubble’ group only. Masks will be mandatory in public spaces.
