"The World Needs More Nerds," says Vancouver's , and the attraction is now helping you dress the part.
The learning and entertainment venue in the iconic geodesic dome on False Creek has just launched in the hopes of drumming up more support to get them through these challenging times.
Science World kicked off their "The World Needs More Nerds" fundraising campaign back in July, with B.C.'s Dr. Bonnie Henry (as her adorable seven-year-old self) as their first famous poster child. Now the non-profit has merch like socks, face masks, pins, and t-shirts for sale on the nerd theme.
Proceeds from the sale of the new line of swag will help Science World stay open so that future nerds can find themselves at the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»venue.
Kids can rock the "Nerd in Training" tee, while adults can strut their stuff as a "Giant Nerd" or with the "World Needs More Nerds" slogan.
"A nerd is someone who loves what they love, no matter what," said the science centre this summer.
"They bring passion, wonder and curiosity to everything they do. Nerds are all-in. That’s the nerd way. Always 100%, because 110% is not scientifically possible."
Science World says more items will be added to the inventory in the coming weeks and months.
In April, the beloved waterfront science centre stated that it might be forced to permanently close doors due to a lack of revenue during the COVID-19 pandemic. After closing doors on March 13, it lost a whopping 85 per cent of its revenue immediately.
Science World reopened Saturday, August 1 with enhanced safety protocols and physical distancing measures in place. Visitors online.
"Science World is in the business of inspiring nerds. And now, they need help from the community to ensure they are still here to do that tomorrow," said Science World.
