The votes are in, and a star is born.

A two-year-old rescue dog will soon have its face on a can of Yellow Dog Brewing's newest concoction after raising the most funds in a "star search" contest co-hosted by the BC SPCA.

Timber will be joined by three other pooches on a four-pack of limited edition Starborn beer, thanks to her and her owners' efforts in the Port Moody business' "Make My Pet a Yellow Dog Brewing Star" contest.

Her award-winning smile and outreach was able to  to support programs that protect and care for more than 118,000 animals in need across the province.

Altogether, hundreds of contestants collected a grand total of $178,613 for the BC SPCA.

"It was a race to the top even in the last moments of the contest on Friday," the non-profit explained on its website.

"Huge congratulations to these fundraisers, and to all of you for the impact you’ve made for animals. The care and love shown by this community means the world to them."

The star search took place from Sept. 6 to 23.

Maisy, a that was found abandoned on Highway 16 in northwestern B.C. — also known as the Highway of Tears — raised the second-most funds at $8,250.

Morkie came in third , while Tundra and will be the final four-legged friend to be featured on Yellow Dog Brewing's new pack of beer.

The random draw included all contestants that raised a minimum of $100 at the contest's deadline.

It's not known when Yellow Dog Brewing will be releasing its Starborn beer, as of this publication (Oct. 10).
