RCMP in Coquitlam, B.C. say one of their police cruisers was involved in a multi-vehicle accident in the city late Saturday afternoon.
They say in a news release that it happened around 5:47 p.m. as an officer was responding to an incident with emergency lights flashing and siren blaring.
Police say the cruiser collided with another vehicle in the intersection of Lougheed Highway and Westwood Street and that the impact caused three other vehicles to be struck as well.
The release says no one was seriously injured and there was no immediate evidence of impaired or distracted driving.
The Criminal Collision Investigation Team and the Independent Investigations Office have taken charge of the investigation.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has dash camera footage of it is being asked to contact the Coquitlam Mounties.
