A special weather statement from Environment Canada cautions people to watch what comes from the sky Tuesday night.
The statement says there will be a mix of rain and snow and the possibility of freezing rain coming the night of Dec. 21. as a high-pressure ridge in the interior keeps skies clear until clouds arrive with precipitation.
"A frontal disturbance advancing from the south will spread rain mixed with snow over the region beginning late Tuesday afternoon. Freezing rain is also possible over eastern sections of Metro Vancouver, the Fraser Valley as well as Inland Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Island," states the federal agency.
While it's not expected that the snow will accumulate, it's possible there will be heavy snow in some areas north and east of Vancouver, though the special weather statement is in effect for all of the Metro Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»region, including Richmond and Delta.
The forecast for Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»from Environment Canada currently calls for rain starting around lunch on Dec. 21 and a risk of freezing rain.
