This is what the new hotel where an old Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»pub stands could look like

This is what the old Fairview Pub property will look like, if designs don't change again

A previous proposal for a new hotel near Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»General Hospital has been .

In the proposal, Bosa Properties, which recently purchased the property at 888 W Broadway, says the company put the development on hold when it purchased the property and is submitting a new development application with a new design for a 156-room hotel with some office rental space as well.

Currently, the property is home to the defunct Fairview Pub and the Park Inn and Suites, which was built in 1971 and has 117 suites.

"The architecture and building form responds to the site’s topography, the evolving local context, neighbourhood character and history, as well as the new Broadway Plan and future rapid transit line," states the proposal.

The new and old designs both show two separate towers of different heights (11 and 13 stories); those heights are limited due to the hospital's helicopter pad. However, the old design used lots of glass on the outside, and one tower rose at an angle out of the building's pedestal.

The new design has two vertical towers covered in pre-cast concrete, meant to be a call back to previous architecture along Broadway (like the building at 805 W Broadway). The proponents note this is one of the features which will help with sustainability; they're aiming to have the hotel get LEED Gold certification.

On the roofs of the towers and the area in between, there will be a patio and park-like space, including a children's play area on the 11-storey tower.

The design also promises new public art, suggesting something suspended above one of the plazas.
