Thousands of people are without power across British Columbia due to a powerful windstorm that is hitting the South Coast.
BC Hydro states that it is seeing extensive outages from strong winds as well as heavy snowfall in parts of the province. It adds that crews are responding as quickly as possible, and that its mobile site will have the latest info as soon as it's available.
Right now, 2,700 customers in Surrey, 1,900 customers in Richmond and Delta, and 1,200 costumers in Langley are without power. In addition, the BC Hydro website shows a number of other places with power outages, including the City of Vancouver. And while some of these outages are planned work being done on equipment, a number of them are under investigation.
As of 1:40 p.m. on Oct. 25, BC Hydro's Outage List states that 13,494 customers are without power in the Lower Mainland and the Sunshine Coast.

Stanley Park has also been closed and a number of BC Ferries sailings are cancelled due to the windstorm. The wind warning for coastal British Columbia is in effect for the next 9 hours.
