A Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»high school had a recent potential COVID-19 exposure event spanning three days this month according to Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Coastal Health (VCH).

The health authority is reporting that from Nov. 15 to 18 students and staff may have been exposed to the virus at Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School in Marpole. VCH posts about the events if they believe there is "an increased risk of ongoing transmission of COVID-19 to groups they were part of."

They note that people directly affected will have already been notified about the exposure.

"If you have not been directly contacted by Public Health, please keep your student in class. Children and youth continue to be at low risk for serious outcomes from COVID-19, but research has shown missing school impacts mental health, social connection and learning outcomes," states VCH on the website.

This is the first event of its type reported in a Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»high school this school year, but VCH has posted about .

High school-aged youth are already eligible for COVID-19 vaccination; this week the province announced the roll-out of its vaccination program for kids aged five to 11.
