The New Westminster Police Department (NWPD) is looking for two suspects after an apparent stabbing on Tuesday night, July 30.
In a news release, spokesperson Sgt. Andrew Leaver said at roughly 10 p.m., somebody flagged down a New Westminster Police officer outside of the police station saying a man was in distress and needed help.
When officers found the man, Leaver said he appeared to be the victim of a stabbing.
Officers began first aid to control bleeding and tended to "major abdominal trauma" before the victim was taken to hospital by paramedics.
Police believe an altercation took place near the staircase from the Front Street parkade .
The NWPD is currently looking for two suspects, described as:

- Slim build

- Indigenous male
- Roughly 5'5"
- Wearing....

- jeans
- baseball hat
- blue medical mask
Two women were also seen with the suspects at the scene.
“We believe there were a number of people who witnessed the event and have yet to speak to police,” Leaver said in the release.
“It is concerning to see this violence occurring in our downtown, especially near one of our city parks. We encourage anyone who witnessed the event or who has information about what happened to call us immediately.”
