A fight involving several men on Nov. 21 ended after at least five of them had stab wounds, with some of them requiring hospitalization.
Police showed up at the scene in Yaletown around 8:30 p.m. Sunday night after getting a few 9-1-1 calls about a large fight at Davie and Mainland streets. When they arrived they found the group, including the wounded men.
"It appears this was an altercation between two groups of intoxicated men who had come to Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»to party,” says Sgt. Steve Addison of the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Police Department (VPD).
“We know at least five people were seriously hurt, however, it’s possible there are more injuries we don’t know about because many of the people fled without speaking to police.”
The five who were stabbed were all from Surrey and Langley, according to police. They had wounds to their faces, stomachs, backs and legs. None of the injuries are life-threatening.
Two suspects have also been identified but aren't in VPD custody. Police say they're both men in their 30s from Surrey.
There's no ongoing threat to the community after the incident, Addison adds, but calls the violence "unsettling."
