Photos: The Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Lunar New Year parade returns in spectacular fashion

Welcome to the Year of the Rabbit

The Lunar New Year parade returned to the streets of Chinatown this weekend.

The festival featured dancers, dragons and dozens of community groups gathered for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic shut down the event in 2021 and 2022.

Thousands gathered on the streets to watch and wave at performances and cultural groups, along with local politicians and companies who participated, including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, official opposition leader Pierre Poilievre and NDP leader Jagmeet Singh. Premier David Eby, and Ken Sim, Vancouver's first mayor of Chinese heritage also joined in.

The Lunar New Year marks the beginning of the traditional lunisolar calendar used in China and other Asian countries.

The year we're entering is the Year of the Rabbit.
