A place for green thumbs to congregate in Coquitlam — and a refuge for others — is about to be lost.
But not anytime soon.
Metro Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»is digging up Pipeline Road for its that begins construction this fall between Guildford Way and Robson Drive.
And a storm sewer relocation to prepare for the 1.4-km pipe installation will mean the small retaining wall and some plants from the city's Inspiration Garden will be removed along the right-of-way of Pipeline Road.
"The plants will be preserved and replanted, and the retaining wall restored once the storm sewer relocation is complete," a spokesperson for the regional agency told the Tri-City News on Wednesday, Sept. 6.
However, once the water main construction is fully underway, the Inspiration Garden will be heavily affected.
"Metro Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»is coordinating closely with the City of Coquitlam around some larger impacts to the garden that are anticipated during a future phase of the project that will begin in a few years," the spokesperson said.
Metro Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»plans to have more information available, as well as public outreach, early next year.
