New Westminster resident Jeffory Frick recently became and instant half-millionaire on a scratch-and-win ticket.

"Unbelievable."

That's how Jeffory Frick described the feeling of winning $500,000 off a recent scratch-and-win ticket, and already has big plans for the money.

The New Westminster man's six-figure payday came courtesy of a  Scratch and Win ticket.

Frick scratched the ticket he purchased at the Circle K on Columbia and Fourth streets and won the top prize while going about his SkyTrain commute.

"I actually won," he said he thought to himself.

Frick said he's already celebrated the earnings with his mom, treating her to a nice birthday dinner.

As for his own plans, Frick said he's planning to "travel the world and buy an exotic car."

More than $62 million has been claimed from scratch-and-win prizes in B.C. in 2024 to date, according to a BC Lottery Corporation (BCLC) release.

$1M winner sought

Meanwhile, someone that bought a ticket in neighbouring Burnaby has become B.C.'s latest millionaire.

BCLC said someone matched the White Ball jackpot prize from Lotto 6/49's draw on Saturday, May 11.

The winning number was .

It's not known, as of this publication, May 13, if someone has come forward or has claimed the seven-figure prize.

"All lottery prize winners have 52 weeks from the draw date printed on their ticket to come forward to claim their prize," BCLC has previously stated.

No one claimed the $46-million Gold Ball prize from the same draw, but someone in Atlantic Canada took the Lotto 6/49 classic jackpot of $5 million.
