Last week, we posted a story about Noor Fadel, a young Muslim woman who was attacked while riding the SkyTrain.
Following the assault, the 18-year old victim , outlining how she was physically and verbally targeted because of her faith.
The most disturbing detail of the account however, was that no one was willing to help her. That is, with the exception of Jake Taylor. Now people want to say thanks.Â
#ThankYouJake is going viral because of a Facebook post written by former ABC and CBC news correspondent . The post outlines Jake's act of heroism and has received 28,000 likes, 9,000 shares and has reached over 1,000,000 people since December 7th.
Lila has also launched a page so people from around the country can show their gratitude too. "If you're Canadian, you know Jake exemplified the best of who we are", reads Lila's crowdfunding page. "He stood up for a defenceless stranger, and didn't ask for anything in return."Â The campaign has raised $1,925 of its $5,000 goal, all of which will be gifted to Jake.
We are so grateful for Noor and Jake, who have both shown incredible courage throughout this incident. You can read our original story about the attack .
