A person is dead after a 25-foot trailer caught fire In Metro Vancouver.
Surrey Fire Service responded to reports of a fire in a trailer parked on the driveway of a residence in the 8400 Block of 121A Street on Wednesday, March 13 around 5:30 p.m., Ass. of Fire Chief of Fire Prevention Darren Major told V.I.A.
One fire truck and four firefighters responded to the scene and knocked it down quickly.
After the fire was extinguished, firefighters discovered a body in the burnt trailer.
Neighbours told Surrey Fire that an individual with a "truck and safety chains" moved the trailer out of the driveway to prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent structures, Major described.
The street was closed until about 11 p.m. as the Surrey RCMP General Investigation Unit (GIU) worked with the fire investigator to determine the cause of the blaze.
Surrey Fire does not currently believe that the cause of the fire is suspicious, Major noted.
BC Coroner’s Service attended the scene and an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death, according to an RCMP release.
