A Maple Ridge resident was shocked to learn that he scored a grand prize.
Peter Anglin couldn't believe the news when he discovered his $166,437.50 win from the Lotto 6/49 draw on April 8.
“I scanned the ticket and kept scanning it,” he recalls. “I sent a photo to my wife and sent a text to my kids saying, ‘Having steaks tonight.’”
His wife and kids were just as shocked when he told them the news.
“My wife said, ‘Is this real?!’ My kids asked me, ‘Are you kidding?!’,” he says.
Aside from a celebratory steak dinner, Anglin says he will put the majority of his prize towards his family's home which he is in the process of building.
“For the last 25 years, I’ve built pools for other people and have always wanted one of my own… I’m closer to that goal now,” he says.
Anglin bought his winning ticket at the ValleyFair Mall on Lougheed Highway.
