A Metro Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»couple is half a million dollars richer after playing the Lotto 6/49.
Dean Connolly stopped to check his ticket at a gas station and discovered he and his wife Veronica had won a $500,000 Extra prize from the Lotto 6/49 draw.
“I checked on the self-scanner and I was so surprised,” recalled Connolly in a BCLC media release. “I am used to seeing just $1 or a free play so this was a shock!”
When he first told her, his wife couldn't believe the couple had won the massive prize.
“We looked up the winning numbers online,” said Connolly.
The Surrey residents plan to pay their mortgage with their winnings and help their children.
Veronica Connolly noted that it feels "unbelievable" to be a winner, adding that "this will be very helpful for us."
The winning ticket was purchased at Webster’s Corner Store on Dewdney Trunk Road in Maple Ridge.
