Gas prices have smashed the $2 per litre mark in Metro Vancouver, setting another all-time record high for the region.
In only a couple of days, prices at the pumps have overtaken previous records set in the past week. On Thursday (March 3) morning, locals shared images on social media of gas prices that had tipped to 194.9 cents per litre.
Now, locals are sharing images from around Metro Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»of gas stations that are showing prices above $2 per litre.
Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»resident Adam Baldwin shared an image of an outlet selling gas for 200.9 cents per litre on Friday morning. In a Twitter post, the shocked local captioned, "Never thought I'd see the day. Who wants to bet to see if it will hit 210?!?"

Another flabbergasted local took to social media to share an image of the gas prices moving past the $2 mark. Shawn Narayan shared a photo of a Chevron with the sky-high price tag and simply captioned: "Omg."

Dan McTeague, the President of Canadians for Affordable Energy (and formerly of ), warned drivers earlier this week that gas prices would increase to over 1.94 cents per litre at the pumps; he also predicted that prices would climb over $2 by Friday.
That was before markets went nuts this afternoon.

Gasoline up another 7 cents for Friday
McTeague expects gas prices to continue to climb in Canada with an increase on Apr. 1 due to the Trudeau government's carbon tax, which will for industrial greenhouse gas emissions from the current $40/tonne price.
