Metro Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»breweries once again had a strong showing on the national beer stage this weekend with nearly two-dozen awards.

From Vancouver, it was a pair of 10-year-olds that led the way at the , with Powell Brewery grabbing a pair of golds (for their dark lager and Imperial IPA Party Time) while Parallel 49 snagged a gold and a silver (winning the Belgian-style Brett category with their 10th Anniversary beer and getting second in North American wheat beers with Jerkface 9000).

Other gold winners in Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»were Georgie's Best Dry Hopped ESB from Bomber (in the amber/red ale category) and 33 Acres of Euphoria in the Belgian-style Tripel category.

Electric Bicycle's Atomic Jam took silver in the American-style sours and Steamworks took bronze in the light lager category with their Lions Gate Light, rounding out Vancouver's representation.

Beyond Vancouver: Breweries in Metro region win big

Meanwhile, Metro Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»breweries scored a number of wins as well, notably Delta's Four Winds, which got a pair of bronzes for Greg, an American IPA, and La Maison, a session ale. Their strongest showing, though, was for their Four Winds Pale Ale, which got a silver. Also from Delta, Barnside scored a silver for its barleywine.

Langley was well represented. While no single brewery blew out the competition, four received medals. Camp Beer Co. got a gold for Lagerkoller in the Kellerbier category. Smugglers Trail also got a gold, winning the English-style IPA category with Canoe Chase. Dead Frog took a silver for its imperial stout, and Locality got an honourable mention for its Owl Train Vanilla Porter.

North Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»got a couple of medals as well, with La Cerveceria Astilleros scoring a gold for its salted lime lager in the herbed and spiced beer category. Just a couple blocks away the crew at North Point got a silver with their Cereal Milk Chocolate Stout.

Metro Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»winners also included a gold for Monkey 9 in Richmond, for their Cosmic Kolsch. Regular award winner Burnabarian from Dageraad got a silver in the Belgian Style pale ale category this year, and Central City in Surrey got an honourable mention for their Street Legal beer in the low-alcohol category.

While B.C. didn't win either of the big awards (best beer or brewery of the year), the province did grab the most individual awards of any province again, with 51 awards out of more than 190 handed out, beating last year's total of 45.

Of all B.C. brewers, Port Alberni's Twin City came home with the most hardware, earning three bronzes and a silver. Of those, three were for sour styles.
