Yves Castonguay is back in police custody.

The 47-year-old was wanted on a B.C.-wide warrant after being charged for racist remarks written on the windows at the Chinese Cultural Centre in April of 2020. He was charged March 30 of this year with one count each of public incitement of hatred and mischief to property but didn't show up for the subsequent court date.

The Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Police Department announced today that he is now in police custody, in a press release, but didn't release further details.

"We know this incident affected members of the East Asian community greatly, and quite frankly, all Vancouverites,” says Cst. Tania Visintin in the release. “Investigators will continue to work on files with a hate element to ensure suspects are held accountable.”
