Homicide investigators are trying to determine where a shooting occurred after a man showed up at a Surrey area hospital with gunshot wounds.
Surrey RCMP officers were called to a hospital by Emergency Health Services after a male victim showed up with life-threatening injuries Thursday night.
"Our officer arrived and spoke with people who had brought him there," says Const. Sarbjit Sangha.
The individuals with the victim said the alleged shooting took place in Whalley near 92nd Avenue and King George Boulevard.
Police investigated the alleged scene and looked at CCTV footage, only to discover there was not a shooting scene at the intersection.
"So our investigators are still working to determine where the shooting occurred,” says Sangha.
The 24-year-old man who is in the hospital had serious injuries and is “not expected to survive.”
Officers from Metro Vancouver's Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) are working to identify a motive in the shooting and whether it was linked to the drug trade and ongoing gang conflict.
"Police are currently in the evidence gathering phase, no further information will be provided at this time,” says Sangha.
A on the same night and resulted in a man suffering serious injuries. Police say the two incidents do not appear to be connected at this time.
"We don't have any indication this shooting has anything to do with Delta," says Sangha.
