Charges have been laid against a man who allegedly posed as a police officer at a Richmond home last month.
Richmond RCMP said in a statement that Gurmandeep Singh Atwal, a 26-year-old Surrey man, has been charged with one count of personating a police officer and one count of carrying a concealed weapon.
The incident occurred in the evening on Jan. 29, and Atwal was arrested on Feb. 11.
Richmond RCMP told the Richmond News that no further information about the incident will be released at this time as the investigation is still ongoing.
Atwal remains in custody and is set to appear in court by video on Feb. 16.
Police in other jurisdictions are also investigating incidents where people allegedly posed as law enforcement.
Earlier this month, two men for killing 78-year-old Usha Singh in her home on Vancouver’s west side. Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»police said it’s believed the men posed as police officers before entering her home.
In another, unrelated incident, two teens in Langley late last month after allegedly impersonating police officers.
