Police were called after a man was stabbed at a Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»beach.

One man is in custody after allegedly stabbing another man following a confrontation at Sunset Beach yesterday (May 26).

The 25-year-old man was skateboarding along the walking path by the beach around 4 p.m. when he ran into a jogger. While the jogger was uninjured and continued on his way, the skateboarder was approached by two other people and suggested he use a different path, according to a release from the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Police Department.

The three got in an argument. A fourth person, a 33-year-old man, tried to intervene at this point and the skateboarder allegedly stabbed him.

“Despite being stabbed in multiple areas, the victim did not sustain any life-threatening injuries,” says Cst. Tania Visintin in the press release.

Police were called and the suspect was apprehended shortly thereafter.

“Through the help of some great witnesses, officers were able to locate and arrest the suspect shortly after the stabbing occurred,” says Visintin.

Charges have been recommended by police against the suspect, who's still in police custody.

"There is absolutely no need whatsoever for any member of the public to be carrying any type of weapon on them," says Visintin. "If someone encounters conflict with another person, we want people to call police immediately.”

Police note there have been four violent incidents at or near downtown beaches over the past four weeks.
