A protest in solidarity with Iran and a protest in solidarity with Wet'suwet'en is taking place in Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»on Nov. 5, 2022.

Two protests are taking place in Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Saturday (Nov. 5) afternoon.

A rally in solidarity with protesters in Iran is taking place downtown while a protest in solidarity with Wet'suwet'en is taking place in Kitsilano.

Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»police alerted Vancouverites about the protests this morning in a tweet and told V.I.A. that officers will be in the area should anything criminal arise.

Downtown protest

Vancouver's Persian community and supporters have been rallying for nearly seven weeks after the death of a woman held by Iran's morality police ignited protests, clashes, and unrest in the country.

Protesters will gather at the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Art Gallery this afternoon to protest in solidarity with Iran.

A previous protest involved forming a human chain across Lions Gate Bridge. Other demonstrations saw protesters chopping off their hair.

Kitsilano protest

A Coastal GasLink pipeline opposition group, Gidimt’en Checkpoint, are organizing a "Kill The Drill" protest in solidarity with the Wet’suwet’en.

"The Coastal GasLink fracked gas pipeline is ready to begin drilling under Wedzin Kwa, the river sacred to the Wet’suwet’en since time immemorial," the group writes in their  against the pipeline, asking allies and supporters to take action today.

The group will be protesting in Connaught Park at noon.
