Indigenous businesses sought for Canadian TV show's second season

Indigenous entrepreneurs can apply to be on the show now.

Last year, the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network () launched a Dragons' Den-style show focusing on Indigenous businesses across Canada and it's just been renewed for a second season.

Starting Thursday (June 15), Bears' Lair invites Indigenous entrepreneurs to apply to be contestants who will be given the opportunity to pitch their ideas to a panel of judges that will mentor them to help them hone their concepts. The winners will take home a share of $160,000.

"This is a life-changing opportunity for aspiring Indigenous business owners, as prize money will help bring their best business concepts to life," says a press release.

Both new and familiar faces will return to the judges’ panel for season two. Business moguls Geena Jackson, Tabatha Bull, and Dave Tuccaro will return as Bears, and the panel will also welcome a new judge: Clint Davis, former President and CEO of Nunasi Corporation and an Inuk from Nunatsiavut.

“I’m so excited about being a Bear on Bears’ Lair. I can’t wait to work with my fellow Bears and seeing what creativity will emerge from our communities,” says Davis.

“I’m very excited for season two of Bears’ Lair and to be part of a project that showcases Indigenous entrepreneurs across the country,” echoes Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business President and CEO Tabatha Bull.

“I’m looking forward to meeting this season’s contestants, and I’m sure just like last season, every episode will be full of surprises, inspiring people and fascinating stories.”
