A Richmond News story about a Congolese family being sponsored to come to Canada was picked up by the UN Refugee Agency in Canada (UNRAC), prompting them to follow the Ngage family during their first Christmas.
The communications staff at the UNRAC said they were “incredibly inspired” by the story and did a follow-up one with Karina Reid and her family as they went to Squamish to pick out a Christmas tree with the five-year-old.
Reid’s family was one of five that privately sponsored the Ngages, Atosha – who was pregnant - and five-year-old Delphin to come to Canada after spending five years in a refugee in Namibia.
