Busses, the SeaBus and the SkyTrain have an altered schedule for the holidays.

The most wonderful time of the year is also the most confusing time of the year for commuters.

For those using the SkyTrain, SeaBus and regular rubber-tired transit, TransLink's holiday schedules are a minefield of Sunday schedules and service alterations and (in one case) extended hours. Also, customer service will be closed Dec. 25 to 28, 2021 and Jan. 1 to 3, 2022.

So here's what you're looking at from Dec. 23 to Jan. 4.

Thursday, Dec. 23:

  • Normal weekday service

Friday, Dec. 24:

  • Busses and the SeaBus will be normal.
  • SkyTrain will have normal hours, but reduced peak service.
  • The West Coast Express morning schedule appears to be the same as usual, but the evening schedule is different with an early train and no 5:20 p.m. departure.
    • Trains leave Waterfront at 1:30 p.m., 3:50 p.m., 4:50 p.m., 6:20 p.m.

Saturday, Dec. 25:

  • Busses and the SeaBus will be on a Sunday schedule.
  • SkyTrain will have a weekday schedule with reduced service throughout the day.
  • There will be no West Coast Express (there isn't ever on a Saturday).

Sunday, Dec. 26:

  • Busses, the SeaBus and the SkyTrain will be operating on the Sunday schedule.
  • There will be no West Coast Express.

Monday, Dec. 27 to Thursday, Dec. 30:

  • Busses and the SeaBus will be normal.
  • The SkyTrain will have normal hours with reduced peak service.
  • There will be no West Coast Express on Dec. 27 and 28.
  • The usual West Coast Express service will operate Dec. 29 and 30.

Friday, Dec. 31:

  • Busses will be normal.
  • The SeaBus will be normal but with extended hours, running until 1 a.m.
  • The SkyTrain will have normal hours with reduced peak service, again.
  • Also again, the West Coast Express morning schedule appears to be the usual, but the evening schedule is different with an early train and no 5:20 p.m. departure.
    • Trains leave Waterfront at 1:30 p.m., 3:50 p.m., 4:50 p.m., 6:20 p.m.

Saturday, Jan. 1:

  • Busses, the SeaBus and the SkyTrain will be on a Sunday schedule.
  • There will be no West Coast Express, because it's a Saturday and they don't run on Saturdays.

Sunday, Jan 2:

  • Everything will be on a Sunday schedule.

Monday, Jan. 3:

  • Busses and the SeaBus will be normal.
  • The SkyTrain will have normal hours with reduced peak service.
  • There will be no West Coast Express.

Tuesday, Jan. 4:

  • Normal weekday service resumes
