Hoping to soak in some sunshine over the weekend?

Unless you are heading out of town this week, plan for a couple of decidedly wet days in Metro Vancouver.

Environment Canada is calling for wet weather starting on Friday (March 25) that is expected to continue through the weekend and taper off on Monday.

While folks can enjoy a dry day on Friday, periods of rain are expected to start overnight. After that, Saturday's forecast calls for periods of rain during the day and rain overnight.

Sunday is expected to see rain all day.

Heading into next week, the national weather forecaster calls for a 60 per cent chance of showers on Monday during the day with clear skies overnight. While Tuesday and Wednesday do not look particularly wet, there isn't expected to be any sunshine until Thursday.

Meteorologist Derek Lee told Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» in a previous phone interview that Environment Canada is forecasting a La Niña pattern to continue into March, April, and May, which generally means "cooler temperatures for the province."

The cold weather pattern generally means there will be less precipitation which will make for an overall drier spring. "There will be days where you can get a Pacific system as we would in general spring to bring us more moisture," he noted.
