If you're hoping for some bright sunshine this weekend, you might be out of luck — but you might not get that wet, either.

A rainfall warning is currently in effect for the Metro Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»region, although the heavy rain is expected to taper off Thursday (Sept. 30) night.

On Friday, Environment Canada is calling for a mix of sun and cloud during the day and a high of 14°C with a low of 10°C overnight. While Saturday isn't expected to be sunny, the forecast is calling for dry, cloudy weather. Saturday night, however, is expected to see rain.

Sunday's forecast includes cloudy skies and a high of 15°C with a low of 9°C overnight. Monday is expected to be cloudy during the day with a 60 per cent chance of showers at night.

Environment Canada is calling for a warmer than average autumn on the south coast of B.C. in its complete forecast released Sept.1 — the first day of meteorological fall.

This winter La Niña could also impact temperatures in the Lower Mainland region, as well as the amount of snow. Currently, the federal weather forecaster's models are indicating that there is a "medium" chance of a weak La Niña this winter but that its effects won't show until December.
