According to the Canadian job website Indeed, jobs related to the video game industry have seen "remarkable growth" Canada-wide in the wake of the pandemic.

Since people have to stay physically distanced, video games provide safe entertainment to enjoy from the comfort of their homes. And between March 2020 and March 2021, "the share of gaming-related job searches on Indeed Canada grew by 43 per cent," explains Indeed. 

As a thriving industry in Canada, there are several gaming career options to choose from, both on the technical and creative sides of the field. To get an idea of what’s out there, has revealed a list of gaming-related jobs to consider and how much they pay. 

Here are the jobs included in Indeed's roundup. 

  • Video Game Designer: Game designers handle the creative elements of a game. This can include creating storylines, characters, game rules, goals and challenges.
    Average Salary in Vancouver: $78,065/year

  • Artist: Game artists include a wide variety of experts in the graphic design field, including concept artists, 3D modellers, special effects artists and visual animators.
    Average Salary in Vancouver: $32.17/hour

  • Programmer: Video game programmers write the code that makes the game playable on various gaming consoles and personal computers.
    Salary: $30.67/hour

  • Game Tester: Video game testers perform tests on a game by playing it multiple times to ensure it is user-friendly, easy to understand and runs smoothly.
    Average Salary in Vancouver: $23.83/hour

  • Producer: Producers maintain the production schedule and manage the development team.
    Average Salary: $78,117/year 

Indeed also revealed where you can find the most gaming-related jobs in Canada: Montreal has the largest share of gaming-related job postings in Canada (36%), compared to Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­(20%) and Toronto (12%).
