Fabric Bag Solution, a volunteer sewing group is hosting a sew-a-thon in Burnaby to benefit the local food bank.

Sewers are invited to come out to make fabric shopping bags that will be donated to the Greater Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Food Bank, which is based in Burnaby.

The event is on Jan. 18, 2020, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Greentree Village Community Centre, 4295 Garden Grove Dr. There is a $2 fee to take part.

Bring your sewing machine, scissors, measuring tape and thread,” says a news release. “We will supply the fabric. If you don’t have any fabric shopping bags, the first one you make will be yours to take home.”

The group is using fabric that was donated from a TV production called The Healing Powers of Dude, but it also up-cycles gently used clothing and linens and just received a donation from Legends Film House Services.

RSVP by Jan. 12 – seats are filling up quickly.
