Broadcaster George Stroumboulopoulos is one of the Canadian icons encouraging people to shop local in light of the current political circumstances, and he's giving a shout-out to some specific Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»businesses.
In a post on Instagram, he speaks about the nature of economic stability, small independent businesses, and supporting locals.
"Vote with your dollar; it makes a big difference," he says in the video he shot in Vancouver. "In fact, voting with a dollar is not just sentimental; it's subversive."
To that end, he shouts out more than a dozen Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»businesses, each a small, independent enterprise.
"Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»is my second Canadian home (I don’t actually own there ‘cause who can afford it)," he writes in the post.
The local places he highlights include a variety of shops like Rise Up Marketplace, Vegan Supply, , and Rufus Guitar Shop. Bookstores Iron Dog Books and also got a nod from the former MuchMusic VJ.
There were clothing businesses, too: Brunett the Label and Mintage.
On the artsy side of things, Stroumboulopoulos spotlighted the , a glass studio in East Vancouver, and .
On the food side of things, he pointed out Le Marché St. George and Cafe Kitsune. He also highlights Save on Meats, which has closed.
