Here's something you don't hear much anymore: gas prices are expected to drop in Metro Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­this weekend, and substantially.

Dan McTeague, a Senior Petroleum Analyst with , tweeted about the drop in Lower Mainland prices on Friday, May 31.

He stated that Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­will only see a one cent drop at the pumps on Friday. However, prices will fall by an additional six cents a litre on Saturday, June 1. In addition, he anticipates that maximum prices will reach 159.9 cents per litre.

Unfortunately, the drop in costs still won't make B.C. prices particularly low. reports that even B.C.'s lowest prices are still among the most expensive gas prices in the country. And, as shown on the list below, they are substantially more costly.

A recent Ipsos survey found that 52% of British Columbians said that rising costs of fuel is likely to impact their summer road trip plans – with 27% even considering changing their existing plans because of high prices at the pump.

On Monday, April 1, British Columbia’s long-standing carbon tax increased to $40 a ton, which is double the federal carbon tax introduced in Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and New Brunswick — provinces that did not previously have any carbon tax in place.

That added another 1.2 cents per litre at the pump, McTeague said.
