A large convoy of slow-moving trucks caused delays on Highway 1 this morning, apparently in a show of dissent against the spiraling fuel costs.
The 100-strong convoy crawled from Langley on the highway, through Surrey and over the Port Mann Bridge to Coquitlam during rush hour.
What was Highway 1 convoy protest about?
The drivers were reportedly protesting the high cost of fuel, with regular gas in Metro Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»soaring to 214.9 cents a litre last week, while diesel climbed even higher.
Gas prices have settled down a little bit since then, with the cheapest stations in Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»and Richmond selling regular for 195 cents a litre on Monday afternoon, according to
. on Highway 1 near Langley, before making its way west to the Port Mann.
Around 8:40 a.m. it was spotted at the west end of the bridge and at 9 a.m. there were reports that the convoy had taken the Brunette exit and was heading towards Coquitlam.
