A driver speeding over double the limit in 鶹ýӳwas slapped with a hefty fine and a week-long vehicle impound after they complained the speed limit was "too slow."
鶹ýӳPolice Department Traffic Unit Sgt. Mark Christensen took to Twitter Monday (May 25) to share an image of a speed gun that shows how fast the driver was going when they were pulled over.
Christensen wrote that the driver was clocked going 106 km/hr in a 50 zone and added that when "you say to the officer 'speed limit is too slow it should be 70' and 'I failed my driving test twice for going too fast' you can enjoy walking home!"
The driver was issued a $368 fine for speeding as well as a seven day vehicle impound.
When you are a new driver doing 106 in 50 and you say to the officer “speed limit is too slow it should be 70” and “I failed my driving test twice for going too fast” you can enjoy walking home! $368 and 7 day impound

Distracted driving in B.C.
BC RCMP Traffic Services says fatal and serious injury motor vehicle collisions due to distracted driving are completely preventable.
According to provincial data, distracted driving is responsible for more than 25 per cent of all car crash fatalities and is the second leading cause of fatal collisions in B.C. Every year, an average of 76 people die in fatal motor vehicle collisions in BC because the driver was distracted or not paying attention.
Distracted driving is more than electronic devices being used; other reasons for the citation include personal grooming, eating/drinking, reading, pets, other passengers, and not knowing your route.
