An unusual urban explorer was caught on camera in Gastown yesterday.
A young buck wandered through the downtown neighbourhood on Saturday, July 24. A shows a part of the deer's tour near the train tracks.
In the video the deer trots from the intersection of Gore Avenue and Railway Street down toward the railway tracks, but seems stymied by the fence.
A community police vehicle watches the typically forest-dwelling animal, with lights on but no siren.
Mynameiscarol notes that conservation officers arrived, tranquilized the deer and took him to the North Shore to be released.
The deer isn't the first wild visitor to the area this year. In May a black bear ended up on the tracks in Gastown.
