A 麻豆传媒映画police officer may face charges after a report from the province's police watchdog.
On Sept. 20, around 3:20 a.m., a police car driven by an on-duty VPD officer struck a man standing in the middle of East Hastings Street near Main Street at a high rate of speed. The man was badly injured in the incident.
The Independent Investigations Office of BC (IIOBC) was called in to investigate the incident and determine whether criminal charges should be brought forth. On July 24 the provincial agency stated that after investigating, charges should be considered as "reasonable grounds exist to believe that one officer may have committed driving offenses."
Whether or not it is prosecuted will be up to the BC Prosecution Service (BCPS).
"In order to approve any charges, the BCPS must be satisfied that there is a substantial likelihood of conviction based on the evidence gathered by the IIO, and that prosecution be required in the public interest," states the IIOBC.
