The transit authority expands payment options with the introduction of the Compass Mini, which looks just like a small Compass Card.

Last year, TransLink announced that it would be trying out an alternative form of payment for its customers: the Compass Wristband.

Now, the transit authority expands payment options with the introduction of the Compass Mini, which looks just like a small Compass Card that attaches easily to keychains and backpacks.

“The launch of Compass Mini is a part of our commitment to enhance the customer experience,” says TransLink CEO Kevin Desmond. “Compass Wristbands have been a real hit and I’m sure customers will enjoy the convenience and practicality of the new Compass Mini.”

TransLink states that the Compass Mini works the same as the Compass Card and Compass Wristband. Riders simply tap in and out when travelling on transit and reload online, at a Compass Vending Machine, by phone, or in person. Of course, just like the other Compass products, there is a $6 refundable deposit when purchasing a new Mini.

TransLink is releasing 5,000 blue adult Minis and 2,500 orange concession Minis starting Dec. 6.

Visit the Compass Customer Service Centre at Stadium–Chinatown Station (Monday - Friday 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, December 7, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.) or the West Coast Express Office in Waterfront Station (Monday - Friday 6:45 a.m. to 6 p.m.) to pick up a Mini while supplies last.
