Sept. 19 will be a civic holiday in Vancouver. Here's what that means for the city's residents.

As part of Canada's day of mourning, the City of Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»has announced Sept. 19 will be a civic holiday.

City hall will be closed Monday to mark the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, following the lead of the federal and provincial governments, the city announced today. Many public offices will be closed to recognize the funeral, which will be taking place at 3 a.m. Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»time on Sept. 19, including schools and federal services.

However, while it will be a civic holiday, the city says many services will be open.

"Park Board facilities will be open and will be adding options for families who find themselves without childcare and/or youth care support," states the city in a press release.

Recreation centres have been deemed essential to the community and will remain open. Additional programming can be found on on Friday at 10 a.m.

Libraries will also be open with regular Monday hours.
