Gastown's streets will once again be car-friendly starting Sept. 6.

City crews are clearing Water Street after a section was pedestrian-only through the summer, as part of a pilot project that officially launched on July 4.

The sidewalks will be cleared up, too, to allow for regular pedestrian use going forward.

The City of Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»indicated Tuesday (Sept. 3) that full vehicle access to Water Street would be restored by the end of the day on Friday, with TransLink's #50 route bus resuming its regular route the following day.

The pilot program allowed the city to collect data and observations about how the area was used. Similar, permanent changes could come to Gastown in the future.

“Our staff are currently analyzing the feedback and data gathered during this process, and we will present our findings in a report to Council later this fall," said Lisa Parker, the City's director of public space and street use, in a press release.
